Sarson Ka Saag Recipe is a traditional dish from the northern Indian state of Punjab, made with mustard greens, spinach, and a few other ingredients. It is a delicious and nutritious dish that has gained popularity not only in India but worldwide. Ingredients:

  • 500g Sarson (Green Mustard)
  • 250 g palak (spinach)
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 3 garlic cloves, chopped
  • 1-inch ginger, chopped
  • 2 green chilies, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons cornmeal (Makki ka atta)
  • 2 tablespoons ghee or oil
  • Salt to taste
  • water as needed

Method:

Rinse the kale and spinach well under running water. Then chop them finely and reserve them.

Heat ghee or oil in a heavy-bottomed pan. Add the chopped onion, garlic, ginger and green chilies. Fry for a few minutes until the onions become transparent.

Add the chopped mustard greens and spinach to the pan. Stir well and cook over medium heat for 5-10 minutes. Keep stirring from time to time.

sarson ka saag with salt and mix well. Next, add the cornmeal to the pan and mix well.

Put water in the pot and bring it to a boil. Reduce the flame and simmer for 20-25 minutes until the vegetables are fully cooked.

Once the veggies are cooked, turn off the heat and let the mixture cool for a while.

Once the mixture has cooled, puree in a blender or food processor until you have a smooth paste.

Return the noodles to the pan and cook for a few more minutes until thickened. You can add some more water if it gets too thick.

Your recipe for sarson ka saag is ready! Serve hot with makki ki roti (cornmeal bread) and a tablespoon of butter.
